Kelby Shea Fobert was born 12/20/11 (10 days late) at 1:02 PM. She was 7 lb 14 oz and 20 in long.
..... and the birth story, for those that want to know..... if you'd rather not, you can stop reading here :)
My midwife really didn't want me going any longer than 41 weeks, but since that came and went on the weekend she was going to be out of town, she wasn't real pushy at having me induced then, but come Monday, she wanted me to have her. I had been dilated to a 2 for two weeks, then a 4 for a week, then a 6 at 41 weeks....... but not in labor!! She said she'd had only one other patient like that before. So, Monday afternoon she swept my membranes. She thought for sure she'd come that night, and I was a little nervous to drive the 15 miles back home, but I did, and we decided to get everything ready and head back to town when Robert got home from work, since the roads and weather were a little bad, and traffic was slow. We went to walmart, walked around, I was having mild contractions, but nothing out of the ordinary from the past two weeks. We finally decided to go ahead and get a room at the motel, so we could relax, and get any rest we could. Still nothing come morning, so I met my midwife at the hospital and she broke my water somewhere around 9:30. That finally did the trick, and after about half an hour I was having regular STRONG contractions. The nurses kept telling me "We'll have a baby by 11:00"...... but that came and went and I didn't feel like she was dropping down. About 11:30 I chickened out AGAIN and got the epidural, I was at a 9 then. Each epidural I've had has numbed me a little differently, and this time I could still feel my abdomen pretty good, so I'm not sure it was worth it, it did take the edge off a bit, but with all the effects of being numb for 5 hours after, a sore tailbone, a backache, and such..... maybe I can do it next time??? haha anyway, come to find out the umbilical cord was half the length of normal, so that was probably keeping her from dropping down and sending me in labor. I wish this thing would let me post pics today, because I think she is such a pretty baby.... in fact she's pretty much perfect!! :D .... like my other two :) We stayed one night in the hospital and we talked them into letting us go home the next morning. Some people wonder why we don't stay and "rest" in the hospital, but really we rest better at home, in our own beds, where nurses don't come in every little bit for this or that, and you don't hear doors, doorbells, and visitors 24/7. The day after we came home she was a little fussy, and spitting up a bit. I could tell her belly was uncomfortable, so we called our hero, Jan....... the lady that helped Hayden feel so much better. She found that Kelby had a dropped colon, her shoulder was out, her neck and back were both sore, and she adjusted her head plates, because she has a ridge kinda across the top of her head, we'll probably go back in a couple weeks to get that adjusted again. This lady is amazing! Since we left her house Kelby has been SOOOO relaxed, and has only fussed when she's hungry. I'm pretty sure all babies should be that way! Her sisters love her so much! Brecklyn tells me daily how much she loves Kelby. Hayden always gets close to her and says "HI! Hi! Hi! Hi!" We thank Heavenly Father for sending this precious little spirit to our home!
